Why Charter With Us
What you get when the details are handled properly.
Not every charter company approaches the experience the same way. Here's what shapes how we work — and what that means for you.

What makes a ombakstena charter different
Full crew, always
Captain, deckhand, and service staff on every charter. You arrive, we handle the rest.
Catering included
Every charter includes a curated food and beverage service — no separate catering vendor needed.
Clear pricing
Three fixed-price charters. No fuel surcharges, no hidden add-ons. What you see is what you pay.
MPA-certified operation
All crew hold current MPA certifications. The vessel is licensed and inspected in accordance with Singapore maritime requirements.
Considered routes
Routes are chosen to match the charter experience — not just to cover distance. The Night Sky Sailing route, for instance, is adjusted nightly for cloud cover.
Responsive planning team
Enquiries are answered within one business day. For Bespoke charters, you work directly with our experience team to plan the day's flow.
Maritime expertise you can actually feel
Our founding captain has spent over two decades navigating Singapore's southern waterways and regional shipping lanes. That experience shapes decisions on the water — from how we position the vessel during a stargazing stop to how we read weather windows in the morning before departure.
- MPA Master's Certificate held by lead captain
- First-hand knowledge of southern anchorages and tidal patterns
- 12 years operating chartered vessels in Singapore waters
"A good captain knows the water. A great captain knows which part of the water to be on, and when."
— Ravi Subramaniam, Founder
Tools and systems that make days run well
Good days on the water don't happen by chance. They require systems: for weather, for maintenance, for communication, and for the small equipment that makes certain charter experiences possible.
We invest in the right tools for each charter type — and keep them in working order, not just available on paper.
Service that stays in the background
Good hospitality is mostly invisible. Glasses refilled before they're empty. A course adjusted to catch the light at the right time. A note about an allergy remembered from an email two weeks prior. Our service team works to anticipate, not just respond.
- Dietary requirements documented and honoured
- Pre-charter communication to set expectations
- Small group sizes allow personal attention throughout

What Sets Us Apart
Things we do that most don't
Stargazing with a guide, not a screen
Our Night Sky Sailing charter includes a human guide with a portable telescope and printed constellation charts. The experience is conversational and unhurried — not a narrated recording.
Local kueh alongside the scones
The Afternoon Tea spread includes local Singaporean kueh selections alongside the more familiar high tea components. The menu reflects where you are, not just the format of the occasion.
Lights dimmed for observation
During the stargazing portions of Night Sky Sailing, the vessel's running lights are dimmed to reduce interference with night vision. A small but considered touch that makes a genuine difference to the experience.
Routes that respond to conditions
The Night Sky Sailing route is adjusted based on cloud cover forecasts each evening. We don't run a fixed loop regardless of what the sky is doing — we adapt to give you the best possible viewing conditions.
